(Verbascum phlomoides)

A Mullein tea is made by pouring 250 ml (1 cup) of boiling water over 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 grams) of leaves or dried flowers and steeping for ten to fifteen minutes.

The tea can be drunk three to four times per day. For dyeing, 1-4 ml are taken three to four times per day.

As dry 1-2 grams are used three times per day. As mentioned above, the Mullein is usually combined with other expectorants emollients or when used to treat coughs and bronchial irritation herbs.

An oil extract is used by naturopathic doctors for ear infections by applying it directly. If the eardrum is broken nothing must be placed directly into the ear; therefore a qualified doctor should always do a scan of the ear before using mullein oil in the ear.
